Feed Dump is one of two successor shows to the Escapist News Network, the other one being CheckPoint. The show debuted on The Escapist on May 25, 2011, effectively taking over ENN's Wednesday time slot. Feed Dump is direct spiritual successor and retool of The Phailhaüs.
Format
Feed Dump is filmed in the Moonbase, and hosted by Graham along with two guests. These guests can include primary crew members, ancillary contributors, or anyone who happens to be visiting.
Each episode begins with Graham introducing himself and the guests before transitioning to the news. Everything in the introduction will be blatantly false and relate to a theme, and the news will be introduced as a word matching that theme that sounds vaguely like "news".
He will then begin reading off strange news items from around the world and soliciting reactions from the guests. Props and hats are frequently used to convey gags. Some stories are accompanied by "recurring" segments with hastily prepared title cards and intro songs, such as "Paul and Matt Have to Figure Out What Graham is Talking About".
The episode ends with Graham's sign-off:
"And remember: there may be better sources for news, but they don't have this hat."
Differences from Phailhaüs
At the moment Feed Dump hasn't had "Pic of the Day", "Word of the Day" or "Day of the Day" segments in any of the episodes that have been aired but whether or not it'll stay that way remains to be seen.
The Hats
Due to the show's reliance on enormous amounts of hats and props, some forum members have taken to betting on the number of shots in an episode that include a certain kind of headwear (the "Hatistics"). The "Hat Market Game" is maintained by JackSlack in this thread, and the data is assembled on this site created by Fugiman.
The list of all the hats can be seen here.
