Transcripts

Transcripts are said to be low on the list of priorities, but what do people think about adding one or two quotes from each LoadingReadyRun episode onto their respective pages? Unhari 10:30, 14 November 2011 (PST)

If you want to do transcripts, do transcripts. I would prefer them to quotes. Also why did blank out your comment? Lord Chrusher 02:23, 15 November 2011 (PST)

I want to add my thoughts to this, now that I've ruminated on it. I asked myself, "What other wikis have quote sections?" The only one I know of is the Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki. They don't appear to have transcripts on that wiki because each episode is an hour long. It would be far too long to be practical.

LoadingReadyRun videos are almost never so long that a transcript would be incomprehensibly long. (For instance, HRWiki has transcript for their videos, because the videos they're transcribing are never more than four or five minutes.) For this reason, I think we should not have quote sections.

I should also clarify what I meant by the section "Not considered a priority." We would still like transcripts at some point, but we don't expect anyone to take up the considerable mantle just yet. If we're in agreement here, we could add a section that says "Things we don't want" and add "Quote sections" to it (and anything else we think of).

I don't want to discourage you from helping. We do appreciate it, but it seems this isn't in line with what the wiki really needs.

I think a things we do want section and a things we do not want section would be clear than priorities. I think each of us have our own priorities. Lord Chrusher 03:25, 16 November 2011 (PST)

External link captchas

Any chance of creating an editor white list so we don't have to answer a question to post an external link? It isn't a big deal, but it would remove one step from a long process. -- deflective 15:40, 20 February 2012 (PST)

I guess it doesn't do that for ME because I'm an admin. I didn't know that was still on. I think the account creation captcha has stopped the spam, so I think that could be safely turned off. --KK, 2/20/12

Cheers. If it's a problem again, a long term solution would be to whitelist lrr and wiki. -- deflective 18:37, 20 February 2012 (PST)

Yeah, those have been bothering me too. If you use the alternative of whitelisting domains, don't forget the escapist and patv. Mtijn 08:18, 23 February 2012 (PST)

Images

CheckPoint, Feed Dump and LRR have images at 300px but ENN, Phailhaüs and Unskippable have smaller sizes. What are the preferred alternative; to follow the trend of each series or make all at 300px and redo the smaller? MrL (talk) 00:52, 21 July 2012 (PDT)

I'll keep doing everything at 300px until I hear from any of you, they can always be shrunken... MrL (talk) 21:24, 24 July 2012 (PDT)

Original comment on this page: Jesus Chrusher, its LRR not LLR. --Lavos, August 15, 2007

updates and forms

Being new on this wiki I have two questions:

  • Why is the wiki still on version 1.24? also Semantic MediaWiki is still on version 2.0. is there a reason for this?
  • Why don't we use Semantic Forms, it seems perfect for this wiki since a lot of the pages consist of mostly templates.
