Synopsis
An unnamed woman (Kathleen) is on her way to do her laundry in her building's communal laundry room when she accidentally steps on a colorful pair of men's underwear. Unsure if they are dirty or clean, she phones her roommate Amy (Missie) for help.
When Amy arrives and realizes the full extent of the situation, she posits that the owner of the undergarments could be "a ticket to a whole new world", as their vivid coloring indicates that he must consider underwear "an important sartorial choice that needs to be made".
When they hear someone coming down the hall, Amy urges her friend to pick the underwear up. However, the woman quickly tosses them to her, still nervous at the thought that they might be dirty. Amy casually sniffs them and discovers that they are perfectly clean, and tosses them back, only to have them tossed at her again. The two women continue throwing them back and forth until the man coming down the hall (Monty) walks in, confused. Presuming him to be the owner of the underwear, the two women present him with them, embarrassing themselves in the process by revealing the details of the previous scene. The man exits, leaving them distraught. Amy points out the "best case scenario", that he was not actually the owner of the underwear, but this does not cheer them up to any considerable degree.
The stinger reveals that Amy was right; the man returns after they have gone to replace the pair of underwear and take his bottle of detergent, which is what he originally came for.
Trivia
- The video is written in a sitcom style unusual to LoadingReadyRun sketches. Kathleen, who wrote it, revealed on twitter before the video went live that she was nervous about it, as it represented a new frontier for her and the group as a whole. Response was very positive, with many commenters noting that they would willingly watch a sitcom that starred the characters in the video.
