Revision as of 03:00, 14 November 2020

The 14th annual Desert Bus for Hope, Desert Bus for Hope 2020, started at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time on Friday, the 13th of November 2020.[1]

Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event abandoned its usual everybody-in-one-room approach; instead, it brought together people broadcasting from a variety of locations.

Each of the four shifts was a separate production with its own engineering team. Each drove its own bus, which was run as a cloud emulation of a Sega CD system. The game run was suspended at the end of each shift, and picked up again at the start of that shift the next day.

Drivers

All shifts (except the starting and ending shifts) are 6 hours long. Times below are in 24-hour time format, set to Pacific Standard Time.

Notable Events and Memes

On Sept. 26, Rustproof Bee Shed, definitely not a Desert Bus test stream, aired for about six hours on the LRR Twitch channel, spanning two shifts: Beta Flight and Dusk Guard. During that time, it raised $11,759.90 for Trans Lifeline. (Video) [2]

The Button this year consists of a virtual (software) button that triggers an actual physical button Ian made, which in turn triggers a Random Dance Party.

The usual behind-the-scenes photography by Kolin is impossible this time around. Instead, participants are taking their own photos, and they're soliciting photos from viewers. Those can be submitted at https://yourphotos.desertbus.org
