Nintendo is bringing viruses to your smartphone and everyone is excited.

  • Unisoft gave us a rare treat last week when they sent out an email about their a-political coup d'etat simulator, The Division 2. Inviting players to a private beta to "come see what a real government shutdown looks like" and naturally everyone climbed on this gaff train. Multiple game sites chimed in because Ubisofts constant protestations that The Division series does not have any politics always rang hollow, and now here was tone deaf proof otherwise. Ubisoft sent out an email a few hours after their ad apologising for what they did, say they "did not intent to make light of the situation", and attributed it to "a grave breakdown in process".
  • In a dlightful and terrifying move, Dr Mario World is coming to iOS and Android courtesy of a partnership with Line.
  • At long last, the worlds most perfect movie finally has what no-one asked for: a sequel starring the son of the protagonist. Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, a financial concern that is either a movie studio, or a game publisher, or maybe both, has given everyone a peak at Groundhog Day: Like Father, Like Son, a VR game where you play and Phil Connors Jr. who is trapped in his own repetitive Groundhog Day hell, trying to break the loop and get free.
    • This story is read three times, with Beej getting things wrong the first two times and getting flashed back to the start of the story to do it again, Groundhog Day style. In the outro he says he's read it 500,000 times.
