Plot Summary
With the only bridge allowing escape from the plateau out, the party briefly attempts to prevent the guard from being called to the scene but reluctantly accept being taken into custody. They are put into a very escapable animal pen for some time before being called over to the Mayor’s house.
At the Mayor’s house, the party is treated to a feast of a lunch while the Mayor is increasingly more desperate about the job getting to port Nyanzaru. Suddenly, Peg-leg and two of her cronies burst into the house and declare a prison riot, clearly not expecting the party to be there and desperately attempting to convince them to kill the mayor. This, predictably, doesn’t work, and the party knocks Peg-leg out. The Mayor instantly agrees to take 6 months off each of the party’s sentences, which is enough to free Snak. They interrogate Peg-leg briefly and find out that some mysterious ropes were let down to the cave-prison and they got out by climbing them.
The party eventually goes back to the Sage to drop off their curse rocks. The Sage is very upset when they enter, and it turns out the curse rocks aren’t working. She was also the instigator of the prison riot and was attempting to kill the Mayor to take control of the plateau. She re-curses Bontan and he manages to activate the curse, throwing up the lunch he just ate.
Afterward, the party leaves to go back to the Mayor’s house and Snak goes to retrieve a stash of things he’d stolen before getting thrown in prison. Along the way, they run into a group of prisoners that have defeated and tied up some of the guards. They run off before the party can engage them, but the guards reveal that other prisoners have already stolen all the hang gliders they need to fix the bridge.
