  • To clarify the introduction, British Columbia became a province in 1871, but has been its current size since 1866 when British Columbia and Vancouver Island were combined into a single colony. As well Quebec is the largest province by land area.
  • Rick Hansen, a paraplegic athlete, wheelchaired around the world to raise money for spinal cord research.
