Okay, some basic rules:

Names

If a member of LRR or the character they play has their own page on the Wiki, then the first time their name appears in a Video entry, it should be turned into a link by adding two square brackets around it, like this:

Graham

Additional instances of that name shouldn't be turned into a link. If the link is valid, it will be blue. If there's no page (as is the case for a few less frequently appearing people) the link will be red, and clicking it will open the editing screen for the page assigned that name. To make a link that displays one bit of text but links to something else, type what you want to link to within the brackets, put a vertical divider immediately after it, then write what you want to appear in the link, like this:

One of the two founding members of LRR

One of the two founding members of LRR

One word names should be used only for main crew and supporting crew. While it is expected people know who Graham is not every one knows who Ben is. Lissette is a possible exception.

How to make section headings

When making a new section, type the name of that section, then surround it with two equal signs on each side, like this:

Vital Statistics
If you want to make additional subsections, just increase the number of equals signs, like this:

Subsection
Required Sections

There are at least four sections that should be present on every video page.

MiniCommentary

The first has no heading. It contains the mini commentary that comes right after each video's title in the archive. Just paste it into the edit box, being sure not to include the name of the video (the Wiki adds that at the top of the page automatically).

Vital Statistics

The second is the Vital Statistics section. It should always include the following information: original release date of the video (when the video's thread in the forum started is a good way to find it), the video's category, the people appearing in it (in order of appearance if possible), who wrote it, who operated the camera, who did the editing (almost always Graham), and the video's location(s). Some videos may have additional bits of information, like "Special Thanks to" and so on.

  • When making the labels for the information, write the word, a colon, and hit space, then surround all that with three apostrophes on each side, like this:
Location:

You can type in the information right after the second group of apostrophes, you don't need to add spaces.

  • Right below the line that says Vital Statistics, create a right-aligned box to contain the video's picture, like this:
{ | align="right"
| URL of the picture written here
| }
  • To find the picture for each video, go to the Archive section of LRR, right-click on the image next to the archived video, and choose "View Image". Copy and paste the URL of the page that somes up, but remove the word "small" and the downslash in front of it from the address.

should become
http://www.loadingreadyrun.com/images/vid_caps/Vest.jpg

Synopsis

The third is the Synopsis. It includes a short summary of what happened in the video.

Trivia

Finally, the Trivia section should include anything interesting and trivial.

  • To make a trivial point, put a star in front of it, like this:
*This is an example of making trivial points.
    • Putting more stars makes subpoints, like this:
*This is a trivial point.
**This is a trivial subpoint.
***This is a trivial subsubpoint.

The Bonus Video Entries

Whatever Thing entries should be written in the same fashion as any video entry, with the slight difference that the writer of the haiku and the filmer of the Whatever clip are acknowledged as well. To do this:

  • Place the forum names of both people in the vital statistics, and their real names if they can be found.
  • Put the text of the Haiku in the synopsis.

Phailhaüs entries should be written in the same fashion as any video entry, with the slight difference that the Word of the Day, Pic of the Day, and current holiday should be included in the synopsis, if they are in the video. In addition, a redirect of Phailhaus (without the umlaut) would be nice. To do this, paste the folloing text on the Phailhaus page.

#REDIRECT Phailhaüs

Category Links

The last thing that needs to be added are the Category Links. Each video page should be categorized as a video. There should also be a categorization definition for the video's type or category and the season it was aired in. This section doesn't need a heading - defining a category happens in its own box automatically.

Example

The following is an example of what the editing page should probably look like when the video entry is completed.

What a strange game, the only way to win is not to play at all. At least when Paul's around.

Graham and Morgan make a bet that Graham can go for twenty-four hours without talking.

Trivia
*The short description given for this video is a pop-culture reference to the 1983 film WarGames

*Graham's ringtone is 'Take On Me' from the Norwegian band A-ha.

*During the course of the charades, references are made to two LRR recurring jokes.

*The video game Graham is playing is Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System,
and the stage appears to be Yoshi's Island 2.
