Synopsis

Andy sings the eponymous song.

Lyrics

The sun is risin' over Tucson
The empty station smells like vomit and gin
What a way to begin the day
It looks like I'll be flyin' solo
Down the road to Nevada
Got my coffee, now I gotta
Get on the road and on my way

Leavin' from Tucson, Arizona, Tucson, A-Z
Waitin' for me across the desert and the dust
Once I'm there, I hope I'll find
A little peace of mind
First I'll get me to Las Vegas
Then it's Tucson or bust

The heat is beating down like lava
I can't believe that there's still 300 miles
I can tell by the dials on the dash
I'm half asleep and hardly breathing
The horizon is hazy
This is drivin' me crazy
The things we do to make some cash

Dreamin' of Tucson, Arizona, Tucson, A-Z
Waitin' for me across the desert and the dust
Once I'm there, I hope I'll find
A little peace of mind
First I'll get me to Las Vegas
Then it's Tucson or bust

I got a family in Phoenix
I haven't seen them in years
I'm gonna write my wife a letter
Grab a pen and tell 'er
That I miss her then I'll seal it with tears

Well, I finally roll into Las Vegas
The empty station smells like vomit and beer
What a change to be here on the strip
I got to get back on the highway
But I'm tired of tryin'
To keep myself from cryin'
As I think about the eight hour trip

Headed for Tucson, Arizona, Tucson, A-Z
Waitin' for me across the desert and the dust
Once I'm there, I hope I'll find
A little peace of mind
First I'll get me to Las Vegas
Then it's Tucson or bust
Tucson or bust
Tucson...or bust

Trivia

  • The idea for "Tucson or Bust" can be seen in its infancy here, from the live stream of Desert Bus 2007.
  • Visual jokes referencing Desert Bus for Hope 3 (not including, of course, the bridge's clips from the actual feed) include:
    • Empire Theatres is showing "New Moon" four times in one day. Matt is in the foreground.
    • A poster advertises "Kroze and the Ham Banners".
    • Tim is reading an issue of Vanity Fair with Robert Pattinson.
    • Kathleen and Tally are catgirls.
    • A large poster of Octopimp can be seen.
    • Bus bumper stickers reference Queen, the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" theme, "Gay Bar" by Electric Six, and Ken "Value Added" Steacy.
    • Posters in both stations offer "value added" bus trips.
    • The license plate number of the bus is 137000 (the donation dollar total at the time of uploading), and a sign advertises a jackpot of that amount.
    • Uncle Sam says "I am appoint!"
    • The buses say "Sakimori IV"
    • Another sign advertises "Teller's Discount Lunches".
    • A street sign (in front of the bus) says "BILL FAIL LOL".
  • The Kroze and the Ham Banners concert is at the William Johnson Memorial Theatre.
  • The bathroom signs say "Mens" and "Womens".
  • The line "Gonna grab a pen and tell 'er" alludes to "Smoke and Mirrors" creators and DB4H supporters Penn and Teller.
  • The "West Phailidelphia" bumper sticker also references the Phailhaüs.
  • A sign says "What stays in Vegas, stays in Vegas".
