Synopsis
The crew prepares to leave for the GP. Kathleen, Cam, and Jer (who will be flying rather than driving with the rest of the crew) plan to participate in the main event, while Alex, James, and Graham are going in order to participate in side events. Paul is still searching for a statistically perfect deck, and resolves to find it before leaving. Back at their apartment, Kathleen berates Graham for not packing clothes for the trip; Graham protests that he will buy additional clothes at rest stops on the road to Calgary.
The next morning, the crew boards the ferry running between Victoria, B.C. and the mainland. After boarding the ferry, the group realizes that Paul is not present; it is revealed that he has stayed up all night testing decks and is not responding to phone calls. Once on the road, they begin playing a variety of road trip games. They attempt to find cards with names that could not be used as the names of heavy metal bands. Graham challenges Alex to a game where each names a card whose first letter corresponds to the last letter of the previous card (i.e. "Hidden Strings", then "Slith Ascendant", then "Time Ebb"), but regrets it when Alex consistently names cards that end in the letter "x". At rest stops, the crew examines the landscape to try and determine what it would tap for as a land card; they eventually find a scene that contains a mountain, a forest, plains, a swamp, and a lake, determining that it taps for all five colors and dubbing it "Canada". Graham purchases a variety of distasteful clothing items.
The crew is exhausted upon reaching the hotel, where they rest up to prepare for the GP.
